At least three wins in their five upcoming ICC Challenge League matches would "set things up nicely" for Jersey in their bid to qualify for a first ever Cricket World Cup, says director of cricket Paul Hutchinson.
The part-time Channel Islanders will play Kenya on Thursday as the next round of the 50-over A League gets under way, with Hutchinson's side already top of their pool table., external
If they stay top going into the final round next year, Jersey would then compete in the play-offs to qualify for the Cricket World Cup in 2027.
"We've been playing pretty good consistent cricket for the 16 months I've been involved with the team," Hutchinson told BBC Radio Jersey.
He was at the helm as Jersey just missed out on qualification for the T20 World Cup, despite a stunning final-ball, one-wicket victory over Scotland.
"The overall feeling of not getting to the T20 World Cup was raw at the time, especially because we beat Scotland," Hutchinson said.
"But they were ranked 13th in the world so that felt really good and has set us up well going into this week.
"We've got five opportunities over the next 10 days so if we can get three, four, or even five wins, that would set us up nicely for the final round next year."
Jersey also face Kuwait on Saturday, 23 August, Denmark on 25 August, Papua New Guinea on 28 August and Qatar on 31 August.
