Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire’s hopes of boosting their County Championship Division One survival hopes were frustrated by the weather at Trent Bridge.
A Nottinghamshire victory would ensure they retain their first division status, while Warwickshire only need five points to confirm survival, but due to the weather only 15.2 overs were possible with the hosts making 33-2 after being put in before the weather intervened.
Finding repeated movement off a pitch subject to constant rain over the last week, Warwickshire struck in the sixth over when Ed Barnard nipped one back to hit Haseeb Hameed’s off stump.
After a spell off the field for bad light, Ben Slater went to a sharp catch by Will Rhodes at first slip to give Oliver Hannon-Dalby his 49th wicket of the summer, but soon after poor light again forced the players off – and they were unable to return.
