Summary

  1. Aus 152-9published at 44 overs

    Lead by 226

Ooooohs throughout the crowd as Wiaan Mulder beats the edge of Josh Hazlewood's bat.

There's not much hint of the ball doing anything off the surface.

  3. Aus 150-9published at 43.1 overs

Mitchell Starc jogs a single to put Josh Hazlewood on strike... interesting.

(P.S. It was a front-foot no-ball from Wiaan Mulder. South Africa have bowled 20 across both innings now...)

  4. Aus 148-9published at 43 overs

Josh Hazlewood survives two balls from Kagiso Rabada.

How will Mitchell Starc approach the next over? He showed good intent at this start of the 43rd, thumping Rabada down the ground for two. Is he going to go for it?

Kagiso Rabada keeps coming back, full and straight. He should be able to finish it now.

    Lyon lbw b Rabada 2 (Aus 148-9)

Yup. It's out. The umpire was quick to raise his finger and Nathan Lyon's review was only a formality.

Lovely bit of nip from Kagiso Rabada who now has 4-48 and nine wickets in the match.

How busy has Richard Kettleborough been during this Test?

Of course he's reviewed it. Everyone reviews it these days.

  9. Australia reviewpublished at 42.4 overs

    Rabada strikes! Or has he?

Nathan Lyon has reviewed the lbw decision which has been given against him.

If the positions were reversed, I'd back Australia to chase down 240ish in the 4th innings. However, I just can't see the fragile South African batting line-up doing the same.

I can't see South Africa grinding to 200 in 80 overs.

Australia have played a very patient and resolute game so far.

  13. Aus 145-8published at 42 overs

A maiden over from Wiaan Mulder.

Thanks to the TV coverage, I've been reminded that last night Marco Jansen dropped Mitchell Starc on 14 just before close. How costly could that prove?

It's Wiaan Mulder - and not Marco Jansen - who will bowl the 42nd over.

I think South Africa will try and change their approach from what they did at the start of the previous innings, they need to take initiative.

They sank into a hole and were going nowhere. I think they will be more positive today though.

Our star goalie missed out on our inter-work football tournament to be at Lord's to see his beloved South Africa play. We got knocked out 5-0 yesterday, so SA better win now!!

  18. Aus 145-8published at 41 overs

Poor old Josh - he's got a first-class high score of 43 not out!

It's a patient start from Australia, with Nathan Lyon taking a single off the first ball and Mitchell Starc watchfully defending the rest of the over.

Other than Josh Hazlewood, most of the Australians can handle the bat.

Right, we're about to get under way at Lord's.

Australia are 144-8 and lead by 218 runs.

Mitchell Starc, who has a Test high score of 99, is 16 not out (47) and Nathan Lyon has 1 (4).

Kagiso Rabada will open the bowling.
