He is playing with unshackled fury.

I can sense genuine anger, he's definitely got some scores to settle.

    There's no stopping him.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Rohit Sharmapublished at 5 overs

    Ind 52-1

Remarkable. Rohit Sharma reaches 50 from only 19 deliveries. This is what he did to Mitchell Starc a little earlier.

  4. Ind 51-1published at 4.5 overs

Two more fours for Rohit. He's got 49.

  5. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 24 June

    Steven Finn
Former England fast bowler on BBC Sounds

Pat Cummins has got to be on it from the first ball now and hope that the delay has disrupted Rohit Sharma's rhythm.

  6. Ind 43-1published at 4.2 overs

    Play has resumed.

For full disclosure, Jack is in charge of the live text team today. You wouldn't believe the lengths I had to go to to get him to make a brew during that break.

    Bharat Sundaresan
    Journalist on Test Match Special

The World Cup final hurt him a lot. He was very open about that.

So today means more to him than just a T20 innings, I suspect there is a lot of pent-up anger and frustration in him that he wants to unleash.

And he chose Mitchell Starc to unleash it on!

  8. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 June

    Steven Finn
Former England fast bowler on BBC Sounds

Rohit Sharma has been ridiculous today. He looks determined to make up for the woes that Australia put his side through in the 50-over World Cup last winter.

  9. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 June

    Henry Moeran
BBC Test Match Special commentator on BBC Sounds

We won't have lost any overs and the sun is shining again, so it's good news all round.

  10. Postpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 24 June

The covers are coming off. We'll be playing again shortly.

  11. Postpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 24 June

Rohit, by the way, has 41 from 14 deliveries.

  12. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 24 June

    Steven Finn
Former England fast bowler on BBC Sounds

The rain brings some respite for Australia but Rohit Sharma won't be impressed, it really disrupts your rhythm as a batter.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 4.1 overs

    Ind 43-1

They're going off. At least something stops Rohit Sharma, but Australia need to play this game - a washout isn't much good to them.

  14. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 24 June

    Henry Moeran
BBC Test Match Special commentator on BBC Sounds

    Welcome, Pat Cummins!

Another one is sent to the roof. Not many batters have got away with treating him like that.

  15. 6 runs

    Ind 43-1published at 4.1 overs

Rohit's still smashing it. This time it's Pat Cummins who is mullered over the leg side.

    It's raining, too.

    Steven Finn
Former England fast bowler on BBC Sounds

There is such a lovely simplicity about Josh Hazlewood's bowling. You'd think that his consistency would work against him in T20 cricket because it could become too predictable, but he's got such great skill at hitting a really nasty length over and over.

  17. Ind 37-1published at 4 overs

Remarkable. Starc has bowled two overs and has figures of 0-34. Hazlewood, from two overs, has conceded only three runs and taken this wicket of Virat Kohli.

  18. Ind 37-1published at 3.5 overs

Yep, Bashir was taken for 38 off one set in the County Championship, thanks mainly to five straight sixes from his England team-mate Dan Lawrence.

  19. Postpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 24 June

    Henry Moeran
BBC Test Match Special commentator on BBC Sounds

It's not even the highest-scoring over of the day, though. Shoaib Bashir would be wishing for 29 off an over.

  20. Postpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 24 June

    Steven Finn
Former England fast bowler on BBC Sounds

He was just trying to get out of the over but the yorker goes completely wrong.

Mitchell Starc hasn't had any control today.
