Well, thank you for your company and all your messages despite the disappointing lack of cricket.

We will be back from 8:30 GMT tomorrow for England's must-win match against Afghanistan, hopefully with a much-improved weather forecast.

Make sure you join us then - bye for now!

  2. Postpublished at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

So that washout sees South Africa stay at the top of Group B with Australia in second, both on three points but the Proteas have a superior net run-rate.

England now definitely have to win both of their remaining games to qualify - they will be eliminated with one more defeat.

Australia's final group game is against Afghanistan on Friday, 28 February in Lahore and South Africa play England in Karachi on Saturday.

Those matches will decide who progresses to the semi-finals from Group B, with New Zealand and India having already qualified from Group A.

    And that is that, folks.

The game has been abandoned by rain in Rawalpindi and South Africa and Australia take a point each.

My 5-minute chaos, 2 balls bowled at once, both are in play. For example, a batter could hit a 6 and be bowled in the same delivery.

    Not quite.

It doesn't actually change a huge amount for the group - England still need to win both of their remaining games to qualify, but it does give South Africa a boost as they maintain their very healthy net run-rate ahead of Australia.

If there is a result today, England could still be out even if they beat both South Africa and Afghanistan.

I’m sure this will have been discussed if I scroll down, but will abandonment put them both onto the semis?

I just want to make clear, I want bowling from both ends simultaneously. Didn’t want anyone thinking I’m so boring that my chaos is to keep things exactly as they are currently.

    Niall, again

I knew what you meant, Niall, and it's a great image - but happy to make sure that it's been clarified!

I've just had this message from my colleague and familiar name to you all, Stephan Shemilt, with his input to the discussion.

"In university games, if a wicket fell, for the next ball I'd keep the ball in my gloves. The bowler would run in, go through his action, then I'd pass the ball to first slip as if he was rapid. Got away with it a few times."

Day-night game, turn off the floodlights then resume play.

For my 5 minute chaos I would bowl from both ends. Not sure who this would benefit but I’d love to see it.

Someone in the crowd is using his four/six banner thing as a hat.

Aren't they made of paper? That doesn't seem to be the smartest option. Still, you can't fault the commitment as there are still plenty of fans out there waiting hopefully.

Back to work and back to providing weather updates, what a thrill.

So it is still raining, and the cut-off time for the start of a 20-over contest is 14:32 GMT (7.32pm local time).

This does feel even more ridiculous considering that it is even sunny here at home in Cardiff. And no, I'm not lying.

Five minutes chaos. If I were the batting team, I would glue the bails to the stumps. If I were the fielding side, I would temporarily relocate the sightscreen.

    Thanks, Tom.

I've been thoroughly enjoying some winter sunshine in Australia and New Zealand for the past seven weeks.

It has rained ever since I got back, and this is my first live text since December - and even that has been ruined by rain. Brilliant.

We have reached that stage in the office where we are seriously considering where to place a dart board.

On that note, it is time to hand over to somebody eminently more sensible. Here's Ffion Wynne.

Morning lads. A thinker whilst waiting for the cricket to start. If cricket had no rules for five minutes during a match, what’s the most absurd but effective strategy you’d try?

Just to be clear my nickname wasn't marsh at school, it was frequently brought up though.

When I was in my first year at university there was another lad called Tom in my halls. He was considerably taller than me (not that difficult) so to differentiate between us I was christened 'little Tom'.

    Think I would've preferred Marsh.

At times like this we need my colleague Mike Peter. He lives for rain delays like this.

Sadly, he is not working today so you will have to make do with me. Sorry.
