England captain Kate Cross: "I thought if I was a bowler I wouldn't be sure where to bowl to Bryony [Smith]. I thought she and Tammy were great up front.

"Issy's had a really tough couple of years, she's showcased all her skills today, the ball that got Gaby [Lewis] was an absolutely amazing bit of bowling. People have wondered why she's been given chances but she showed why today.

"In T20 cricket it's about recognising when to wrestle back momentum. I think when Mady Villiers came in she gave us a bit of impetus, if she hadn't it might have been a different game.

"I think everyone smiling has been my favourite element. Charis Pavely looked like she was having the time of her life out there. Everybody contributed out there and it was really exciting."

The big advertising board has just blown down behind Kate Cross as she gives her interview at the presentation.

Some sponsors are going to be unhappy.

Bryony Smith, who hit 58 from 30 balls, is given the player-of-the-match award and takes home a box of chocolates for the pleasure.

I like it. Far more use than the alcohol.

You could argue that game was won in the first powerplay. England hit 65 off the first six overs meaning they still posted a total well beyond Ireland despite a sloppy second half of the innings.

    Canning c&b Pavely 25 (Ire 102-9)

Charis Pavely has her third wicket on debut! The left-arm spinner tosses the ball into the air in delight after clinging on to a simple caught and bowled chance.

She finishes with 3-19. Impressive. Ava Canning has to go.

  11. Ire 95-8published at 16 overs

    Target 177

Issy Wong returns in search of the final two wickets. No luck on that front but she finishes with an impressive 2-14 from four overs.

It's good to see her back performing well.

  12. Ire 91-8published at 15 overs

    Target 177

It has been an all-round bowling effort from England. There have been five different wicket-takers.

    J Maguire lbw b Villiers 1 (Ire 87-8)

Darted in by Mady Villiers and when Jane Maguire misses she is plumb in front.

    England are closing in.

  14. Ire 86-7published at 14 overs

    Target 177

Having butchered her team-mate and star batter, Ava Canning at least sends Kate Cross to the boundary twice in the England captain's third over.

That's good from Canning. It'd be easy to lose your head in that situation.

    13 from Cross' over.

Prendergast is the last player you want to see walking back, she's the only player who's taken this game on. She wanted the second and was sent back, Canning should have perhaps sacrificed herself.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13 overs

Prendergast run out (Villiers) 52 (Ire 72-7)

And that will be the game. There's a yes and a no and a bit more confusion between the two Ireland batters. Orla Prendergast ends up having to turn mid-pitch and is well short as Mady Villiers' throw comes in from the deep.

Prendergast has to depart for an impressive 52.

  17. Ire 68-6published at 12 overs

    Target 177

Ava Canning has taken seven balls to get to two. Ireland need Prendergast on strike.

50 for Orla Prendergastpublished at 11.2 overs

Orla Prendergast waves her bat towards the dressing room after reaching 50 from her 32nd ball.

It looks unlikely to be enough but it has been a fine knock.

  19. Ire 66-6published at 11 overs

    Prendergast 49, Canning 1

Can Ava Canning offer any sort of support to Orla Prendergast just to help take this game deep?

Ireland need 111 from 54 balls.

  20. Ire 63-6published at 10.2 overs

Seren Smale holds her hands up after letting one down the leg side from Issy Wong through her gloves.

It goes for five wides. England haven't done much wrong in this innings.
