Summary

  1. India beat Pakistan amid controversy, confusion - and bugspublished at 18:37 BST 5 October

India have their second win from two at this World Cup. Pakistan have two defeats from two.

If you missed anything you can scroll down for the reaction from both captains and the clips of the key moments.

My colleague Sam Drury has done his best to sum up all of the controversy and confusion in his match report.

    We'll be back on Monday.

  2. 'Kranti was outstanding'published at 18:35 BST 5 October

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "Very happy, a very important game for all of us and I'm sure everyone back home is also very happy.

"Kranti [Goud] bowled really well, she was outstanding. Overall, we bowled really well and created so many chances. Unfortunately, we dropped some but when you win, you're happy."

On the batting: "It wasn't an easy pitch to bat on, we just wanted to bat longer and see. It wasn't an easy pitch because of the rain the last two days, the pitch held. Richa [Ghosh] played a big role in the end and gave us those 30 crucial runs.

"I'm happy we won this game, we want to go back to India with that momentum. We know how the pitches are going to be there, the best combinations for us and how we can improve our cricket every day."

  3. What's happening on Monday?published at 18:33 BST 5 October

It may still be early days in this competition, Monday's match is a big one.

New Zealand meet South Africa, both of whom lost their opening matches.

With India, Australia and England starting strongly, the loser of that one will already be up against it.

  4. 'We need to build longer partnerships'published at 18:32 BST 5 October

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana: "In the powerplay we gave a lot of runs away and in the death overs too. It felt like it was turning but we didn't do great with the ball."

On 247 as a target: "We wanted to restrict them to under 200, that would have been a good total for us to chase."

On their batting line-up: "I still believe that our batting line-up is good because there are pure batters in the top five, but we do need to step it up.

"We need to explore our batting and try to build longer partnerships. Also we need to be better at assessing the conditions to help our batting line-up."

On Sidra Ameen: "She is the main player in our team and is very hard working. Hopefully she will be good in the next matches as well."

In truth this match will be remembered for its' confusing moments.

It began at the toss when Pakistan won the toss despite appearing to call incorrectly...

Then bugs stopped play and a fumigator had to be called...

And there was still time for a controversial umpiring decision when Muneeba Ali was given not out and then out.

Pakistan were not happy. The laws did not seem to entirely cover this situation which did not help.

It was only Sidra Amin who looked like making a decent contribution with the bat for Pakistan. Although batting below the required scoring rate, she hit nine fours and a six before being caught for 81 when left to bat with the tail.

Things don't get any easier for Pakistan, who play Australia at the same venue on Wednesday.

India get their second win from two but were by no means perfect today. They dropped catches, used the review system badly, chewed up deliveries with the bat and their top order failed to go on after making starts.

They were 203-7, not entirely comfortable, before Ghosh hit 35 not out from 20 balls.

  8. Postpublished at 18:19 BST 5 October

India were always comfortable after the late flurry from Richa Ghosh took them up to 248. Kranti Goud was the pick of their bowlers with her three wickets putting her side well on the way...

Very good to finish the game off with a wicket. India have been brilliant to the tailenders.

Deepti Sharma was expensive today but she managed to strangle the batters at the death.

  10. wicket

INDIA BEAT PAKISTAN BY 88 RUNSpublished at 18:15 BST 5 October
    Breaking

Iqbal c Mandhana b Deepti 0 (Pak 159 all out)

A match of controversy and confusion ends with Sadia Iqbal being caught in the deep.

Like with the captains at the toss, there are no handshakes between the two sides afterwards.

Diana Baig is totally gone. Her bat got stuck but she was far gone anyway. Harmanpreet Kaur is one of the best fielders so she is not going to miss that.

    A short cameo.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.2 overs

Baig run out (Kaur) 9 (Pak 158-9)

Direct hit from Harmanpreet Kaur! It has been given out straight away. There's no need to check the replays.

Diana Baig's bat got stuck in the ground as she ran a quick single but she wouldn't have made her ground anyway.

Harmanpreet's throw from the mid-wicket was perfect, Baig's judgement less so.

  13. Pak 158-8published at 42 overs

Need 90 more runs from 48 balls

Diana Baig and Nashra Sandhu look like they want to stretch this out and not give India the satisfaction of an early finish. The crowd has largely drifted away.

    Deepti Sharma to continue...

  14. Pak 155-8published at 41 overs

    Need 93 from 54 balls

This win will take India to the top of the standings at this early stage.

  15. Pak 150-8published at 40 overs

    Target 248

Pakistan haven't been blown away. Their side is far less experienced than India and they've just fallen in a slow slide...

Sidra Ameen takes with her any hope that Pakistan had. She smacks the floor as she leaves.

    Amin c Mandhana b Rana 81 (Pak 150-8)

There will be no hundred for Sidra Amin. She falls for 81 - chipping a catch off spinner Sneh Rana to square leg. Amin is gutted. She bashes the pitch with her bat after the catch is taken and does the same to the stairs as she makes her way up to the dressing room.

The end result is not going to be a surprise but this scorecard does not show how much Pakistan have challenged India at times.

  19. Pak 146-7published at 39 overs

    Amin 79, Baig 0

Sidra Amin gives new batter Diana Baig a slap on the back as she reaches the middle. I reckon that was something along the lines of "stay with me, Di".

In reality it's all about whether Sidra Amin can get to her century and has been for a while.
