Hello, we've got some covers moving off the ground.

The umpires have been taking a look, although one still has a large umbrella up.

    Mixed signals...

The skies behind the stands are looking pretty dark, but those over the stadium seem to be pretty clear now.

With any luck we might be able to get on with the game soon - we'll let you know if we hear news of a resumption time.

@11:10 Women's World Cup - "monstrosity". Ffion posts a picture of the smallest spider in the world. At least Henry Spider-M(oer)an was there to rescue her. 🕷

Fear not, we've got plenty of things for you to do during this rain delay - no need to consider "work".

First up - how much do you know about the players who are taking part in this World Cup?

Well, here's a quiz with 12 players for you to identify, with hints to help you.

Tell you what, for fans of gigantic plastic sheeting, this is your Woodstock.

Huge teams of groundstaff, like numbering over 100, have hauled on vast tarpaulins that cover above a third of the ground each.

The rain does appear to have got a little heavier since the players went off.

This is disappointing because this is the one day that the weather forecast said would be okay. Subsequent days in Guwahati have been fairly unequivocal.

Ah, here comes our first rain delay of the tournament.

It starts coming down towards the end of Udeshika Prabodhani's fifth over.

The players walk off and on come the covers.

Dew could well be a factor at this ground with the disparity in temperature. The darkness also comes quickly around here - about five o'clock it is closing in.

I think it's been established, since my Ashes stint in Australia, that I am absolutely terrified of spiders.

So you can imagine my shock when I was in bed last night and saw this monstrosity scuttling across the floor out of the corner of my eye.

I screamed, frantically called Henry Moeran for help, and then struggled to sleep until about 1am out of pure fear.

A first change for Sri Lanka as left-arm seamer Sugandika Kumari comes into the attack.

Her first over goes for three singles and a wide.

As soon as the ball is past the infield, it is basically four runs whether you have timed it well or not.

Sri Lanka will be keen to get out of the powerplay and get some fielders out there.

There's a third four for Harleen Deol.

She squeezes Udeshika Prabodhani's delivery past backward point and it races away to the ropes across a quick outfield.

  14. Not outpublished at 7 overs

    Ind 29-1

    Yeah, nothing in that.

The ball came off the bottom of Harleen Deol's bat, hit the ground and passed through to the keeper.

Maybe Sri Lanka's fielders thought it came off the batter's boot - I'm not sure how though, as her foot wasn't especially close.

That felt to me very much not out in real time, however we are quite a distance away.

  16. Umpire reviewpublished at 7 overs

Have Sri Lanka got another wicket here?

They seem to think there's a chance of a caught behind - I'm not sure how as the ball seemed to bounce before reaching the keeper.

Still, the umpires are going to take a look.

Is it just me or is it weird for an international tournament to start on a Tuesday?

  18. Ind 24-1published at 6 overs

A bit too much width from Udeshika Prabodhani and Harleen Deol takes advantage.

She lashes it to the right of point for four.

Brilliant start by Sri Lanka, getting the big wicket of the run machine Smriti Mandhana. She is the one player that is feared by everyone.

Sri Lanka have kept the stumps in play and have given India nothing.
