India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "It wasn't an easy game. We know every game is important and will be high pressure.

"In the middle overs our batters managed well despite losing wickets. That was outstanding to watch and overall it was good game for us. All of our girls came together to win this.

"Being able to bat so low is really good for us. Deepti [Sharma] has been outstanding today as she always is.

"Shree Charani has also been so good taking wickets for us. She gave us a breakthrough and we were hoping that they kept giving us wickets. Everyone was happy with the way they bowled."

  3. 'I know we can bounce back'published at 19:25 BST 30 September

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu: "We executed our plans but we dropped a couple of wickets - Amanjot Kaur was disappointing to drop. We made a few mistakes and that has cost us the game. As a batting unit as well we lost wickets. That is why we lost this game.

"Our bowlers need to sit down and think with the coaches and reset our plans for our next game.

"We are still calm and I have faith in my youngsters. If they can perform then we have a chance to win more games.

"We batted well in the powerplay but after I got out, out batters struggled. Chasing is not easy but we needed to execute our plan. If we can rest our plans, I know we can bounce back."

India have started really nicely. There are some cracks there; they did panic when Smriti Mandhana got out early but it was still a comprehensive win.

Sri Lanka have certainly got more to improve on however.

And Deepti Sharma added figures of 3-54 to her 53 (53) as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 211.

India will be chuffed with that. There were in a little bit of trouble at one point but their lower order built momentum.

How Sri Lanka will rue those dropped catches.

They had India rocking on 124-6 after taking 4-4 but a century partnership between Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur - who was dropped four times - took the game away from them.

Chasing 271 proved too steep for the co-hosts.

Sri Lanka were always the underdogs but they have had their moments. It was going to take something remarkable for them to come out on top.

Achini Kulasuriya went for the slog sweep but did not get hold of it. A pretty weak shot.

She has one done well to be there for so many balls but it is not a job that will win the game for Sri Lanka.
