Rosemary Mair makes the early breakthrough for New Zealand.

Jess Kerr had built the pressure with her economical swing, bowling a maiden in the previous over, and then Mair strikes, removing Sharmin Akhter Supta for three.

  2. Bangladesh begin chase of 228published at 14:27 BST 10 October

Righto, the players are back out.

Rubya Haider Jhilik and Sharmin Akter Supta are out in the middle with Bangladesh chasing 228.

Rosemary Mair, making her first appearance of the tournament, is opening the bowling for New Zealand.

  3. '227 will be defendable'published at 14:22 BST 10 October

New Zealand batter Brooke Halliday: "There wasn't too much chat with Sophie. The biggest thing was reminding each other that 50 overs is a long time and being happy with singles and trying to take the game as deep as possible so we could have party time, as Sophie showed at the end of her innings.

"The pitch isn't too bad. The fuller ones skid on a bit and Bangladesh have a bowling line-up that's on the slower side, so that made it quite difficult.

"The biggest thing for us as a fielding side is trying not to give them any width. 227 will be defendable."

  4. NZ set Bangladesh 228 to winpublished at 50 overs

    NZ 227-9

New Zealand finish with a flourish, scoring 16 runs off the final over to close on 227-9.

The White Ferns were 38-3 in the 11th over but a 112-run stand between Brooke Halliday (69 off 104) and Sophie Devine (63 off 85) rebuilt their innings.

They'll be especially happy with their final 10 overs, which yielded 74 runs.

Rabeya Khan was the pick of Bangladesh's bowlers, taking 3-30, but pace proved expensive, with Marufa Akter returning 1-58 from her seven overs.

Green st Joty b Rabeya 25 (NZ 202-6)

Maddy Green skips down and is stumped by Nigar Sultana Joty for a handy 25 (28).

Joty has been excellent behind the stumps. Rabeya Khan has three wickets.

  9. NZ 191-5published at 45 overs

New Zealand are ramping it up in the final 10 overs.

Sophie Devine took Nishita Akter Nishi for a couple of sixes before her departure in the 44th over and now Maddy Green has taken up the boundary mantle, with two fours in three deliveries. The second four nearly took the umpire's head off!

With five overs remaining, New Zealand will want to get as far north of 200 as they can.

She departs for 63 (85). Out walks Izzy Gaze.

That's more like it! Sophie Devine bangs Nishita Akter Nishi into the leg-side for six to bring up her half-century off 82 deliveries.

It's her third 50+ knock in three innings at the World Cup and possibly her most important.

  12. NZ 153-4published at 40 overs

It's very evenly poised with 10 overs remaining.

New Zealand have recovered well from 38-3 but the wicket of Brooke Halliday in the 39th over came at a crucial time for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will want to keep New Zealand to about 180 and have four overs from the economical Nahida Akter (0-10) at their disposal. Sophie Devine will want 200.

She has 45 (70) and Maddy Green has 1 (7).

'She knew as soon as she hit it' - Halliday top edge caught by wicketkeeper Joty

In the 38th over, 65 deliveries into her innings, Sophie Devine finally gets a boundary! She pounces on a full ball from expensive pace bowler Marufa Akter and hammers it through the covers for four.

It's the first of three boundaries in five balls but just as New Zealand are rumbling into life, Brooke Halliday top edges the ball high into the sky and is caught by wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana Joty.

She departs for 69 (104) and New Zealand's fourth-wicket partnership (worth 112 off 166) is broken.

Halliday hits 'one of the biggest sixes of the tournament' over deep mid-wicket

There's a lengthy delay midway through the 33rd over after Bangladesh captain and wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana Joty sustains a blow to her right hand. A finger is strapped up and she's ok to continue.

Earlier in that over, Brooke Halliday went down on one knee to hammer the first six of the innings. Sophie Devine is still waiting for her first boundary.

With 15 overs remaining, New Zealand are 130-3, with Devine on 30 (56) and Halliday on 62 (95). 200 is still on the cards if they can pick up the pace a little.

    A composed innings from Halliday.

  16. NZ 104-3published at 30 overs

100 up for New Zealand in the 30th over but they're still being forced to largely deal in singles against Bangladesh's lack of pace.

Brooke Halliday (43 off 71) is closing in on a half-century while Sophie Devine, who still hasn't scored a boundary, has 25 (49).

When will we see her burst into life? Can she?

  17. NZ 84-3published at 25 overs

At the halfway mark, New Zealand are 84-3.

Bangladesh have been excellent with the ball and in the field – Marufa Akter is the only bowler going at more than four runs an over.

In the past five overs, there’s been 19 dot balls and only 14 runs, including one boundary.

Sophie Devine (16 off 37) is yet to free her arms but her partnership with Brooke Halliday is up to 46.

  18. NZ 70-3published at 20 overs

Bangladesh are still managing to restrict New Zealand, with Nishita Akter Nishi and Fahima Khatun bowling in miserly fashion.

New Zealand have only scored two boundaries, both from the bat of Brooke Halliday, since the sixth over and it's leading to a bit of skittish running.

Both batters set off for, and then aborted, singles in the 19th over and Rabeya Khan sent in a direct hit as a bit of a warning.

After 20 overs, Halliday has 22 (33) while Sophie Devine, batting in a floppy hat, has 12 (27). The White Ferns are rebuilding.

  19. NZ 49-3published at 15 overs

Well, Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday have temporarily stemmed the flow of wickets for New Zealand. They've been content to trade in singles as they attempt to rebuild this innings.

Bangladesh can't afford to let this partnership settle. Remember, Devine has scored 112 and 85 in her previous two innings at this tournament.

    New Zealand are imploding.

Melie Kerr has been bowled by a lovely straight delivery from Rabeya Khan and departs for one.

Rabeya has 2-8 from her three overs and New Zealand have slumped from 35-0 to 38-3. Oh dear.
