Team Sky have signed Movistar's Vasil Kiryienka on a three-year contract.

The Belarusian, 31, won bronze at the World Time Trial Championships in Limburg this year and has made nine Grand Tour appearances.

Team Sky sports director Nicolas Portal believes Kiryienka, who is a talented climber, will be a valuable addition.

"He can perform very highly in his own right or in a team capacity and we know what he is capable of," Portal said. "It puts us in even better shape."

Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins became the first British rider to win the Tour de France in July.

Sky boss Dave Brailsford says Chris Froome, rather than Wiggins, is set to lead the British outfit's Tour de France 2013 challenge.
