Tour de France: David Millar reveals he will race for last time

British cyclist David Millar will ride in the Tour de France for a 13th time

David Millar has revealed inadvertently that he will take part in this year's Tour de France for a final time.

The 37-year-old tweeted he was taking part in the British Championships before going on to the Tour, which begins in Yorkshire on July 5.

The Garmin-Sharp rider wrote: "Last time leaving home to race Nationals/TdF. More hectic than ever."

Millar, who will be taking part in his 13th Tour, is one of only six Britons to have worn the yellow jersey.

He later apologised on Twitter to his team's sporting director, Charly Wegelius, for announcing his selection ahead of the final nine-man squad being revealed publicly.

Millar, who was suspended for two years in 2004 for taking a banned substance but has since become an anti-drugs campaigner, said in October that he will retire at the end of the season,
