Mark Cavendish says he is recovering well after having surgery on the injured shoulder that forced him to pull out of the Tour de France.
The British rider dislocated his shoulder and damaged ligaments in a crash during the sprint finish on the opening stage of the Tour in Harrogate.
His recovery is expected to take around six weeks, which means he is likely to miss this year's Commonwealth Games.
"Just had my first physio session," the 29-year-old said on Twitter., external
"Actually feels so nice to move it and it's working well," he added.
Defending Tour de France champion and Briton Chris Froome of Team Sky was also forced to withdraw after injuring his wrist and suffering three falls over stages four and five.
Froome's Welsh team-mate Geraint Thomas and Englishman Simon Yates, who rides for Orica-Green Edge, are the only two remaining Brits in the race, which this year began in Yorkshire.
