Tobyn Horton: Guernsey cyclist's joy at Tour Series title

Horton won his first Tour Series event around Canary Wharf in June last year

Guernsey rider Tobyn Horton has helped his team win their first-ever Tour Series title after finishing second in the final race of the season in Bath.

The Madison Genesis rider came home behind One Pro's Marcin Bialoblocki, but the result helped his team gain the points they needed to win the title.

"I was with them last year and we got second in the series," Horton said.

"It's three years of trying for the team and we've finally done it, so it's fantastic," he added to BBC Guernsey.

The Tour Series sees teams compete in a 10 rounds of criterium races in different towns around the UK over a month-long period.

"We've got such a strong team that I think we deserve it," added Horton, who will be part of Guernsey's cycling team for the Island Games later this month.

"It's as much mentally draining as it is physically, because it's one hour of really hard racing and you don't always sleep very well after. Then you've got to travel between different parts of the country.

"It's a pretty hectic five weeks and I'm pretty happy it's over to be honest," he added.
