Great Britain's Olympic BMX freestyle silver medallist Kieran Reilly has been ruled out of this weekend's UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Saudi Arabia.

Reilly was among the favourites heading into Saturday's freestyle park event in Riyadh, but suffered a setback related to the broken foot he sustained in April.

The 24-year-old from Gateshead - who landed two world-first tricks in Manchester before the injury - was hoping to win his second world title after his maiden victory at the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow.

Despite Reilly missing out, six British athletes will be competing with the men's and women's freestyle park finals live on the iPlayer and BBC Sport website and app on Saturday.

Sasha Pardoe goes into the women's park competition full of optimism after securing a bronze medal at the European Championships in September.

Pardoe was crowned European champion a year earlier and has sustained her good form with two top-10 finishes in World Cup events in 2025.

Hannah Roberts of the USA is the overwhelming favourite to take home a sixth consecutive world title - and seventh overall - with China's Olympic champion Deng Yawen not competing.

Four British riders secured top-10 finishes in the men's freestyle park event at the 2024 World Championships.

Reilly and the new European champion Dylan Hessey are out injured, but Jordan Clark and Jude Jones - who finished seventh and ninth in Abu Dhabi - will be aiming to go even better and push for medals if they qualify for the final.

The competition will be fierce as world champion Logan Martin of Australia looks to retain his title against Argentina's Olympic champion Jose Torres Gil, who is seeking a first world crown.
