BDO World Darts: Anastasia Dobromyslova says ladies' draw is open

Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova insists she is not the overwhelming favourite to successfully retain her BDO World Championship title in 2014.

The 29-year-old, three-time winner, who is based in Cheshire, struggled through her first-round match tie Karin Krappen of the Netherlands on Sunday.

Nine-times champion Trina Gulliver was beaten in the event's opening match.

"It's such a short format and there are so many good players, so you never know," she told BBC Sport.

"I wouldn't say I'm favourite, Trina's the favourite or anybody else is the favourite."

The ladies' draw has been expanded from eight to 16 players in 2014, meaning Dobromyslova will need to beat a total of four opponents if she is to lift the world title for a third year in succession.

"The players who have already been here [to the World Championship], we have to do something we haven't done before," added the third seed.

"Before, I would already be in the semi-final. Now I'm just in the quarter-finals. It's extra work and extra pressure, and you never know how people will cope."

Gulliver was beaten 2-0 by Dutch player and Lakeside debutant Tamara Schuur on Saturday.
