Premier League Darts: Adrian Lewis hits nine-dart finish in Belfast

Adrian Lewis hit a brilliant nine-dart finish as Phil Taylor stretched his lead at the top of the Premier League table at Belfast's SSE Arena.

Lewis finished with 144 for the perfect leg in a 7-5 victory over James Wade.

Taylor beat Raymond van Barneveld 7-5 and is now four points clear at the top of the table.

World number one Michael van Gerwen, who is second, drew 6-6 with world champion Gary Anderson in a match which lasted just 16 minutes.

Stoke thrower Lewis began the 10th leg with 180, followed by 177, before finishing with two treble 20s and double 12.

It was the 31-year-old's fourth televised nine-darter and the first in the Premier League since 2012.

Robert Thornton, who played twice, beat Peter Wright 7-2 before losing to Dutchman Van Barneveld 7-4 in the final game of the evening.

The top four players after 16 round-robin matches will qualify for the play-offs in London on 19 May.
