Big players stepping up. We have been crying out for this with England for years. Big players making plays, making it easy for England to create momentum.

England have gone back to the dark days of kicking ball away again.

Marcus Smith comes on and England suddenly look like scoring. Take notice, Borthwick.

Do you remember years ago when England did nothing but kick the ball away and everyone complained, and then England tried to be different? Well that lasted long.

    Result: Italy 14-32 South Africa

Earlier today, South Africa overcame a first-half red card to win for the second match in succession, as the world champions followed last weekend's victory against France with a 32-14 success against Italy in Turin.

Seven days after Lood de Jager's dismissal in Paris, fellow lock Franco Mostert was sent off in the 12th minute against the Italians.

Mostert was deemed to have made shoulder contact to the head of opposing fly-half Paolo Garbisi and did not attempt to wrap his arms in the tackle.

South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus, who had selected a rotated starting XV, brought on four of his replacements inside the first 26 minutes and the Springboks led 10-3 at half-time thanks to Marco van Staden's converted try.

Two Garbisi penalties reduced Italy's deficit to a single point but they were unable to take advantage of a brief spell with a two-player advantage, following Van Staden's yellow card for a ruck infringement.

Scrum-half Morne van den Berg crossed for South Africa's second score while Italy's Lorenzo Cannone was in the sin-bin and, although Ange Capuozzo collected an inside pass to dart over in response for the home side, Grant Williams and Ethan Hooker scored late on to secure victory for the Springboks.

I think George Ford will have seen the clock and thought about getting points on the scoreboard.

I will not be complaining about a drop-goal.

This is living up to its promise. The momentum is sloshing about all over the Twickenham deck, with England finishing the stronger off the back of those two George Ford drop-goals.

One to look out for - Tom Roebuck headed down the tunnel with a limp. With Marcus Smith, England's only backline specialist replacement, already on permanently for Freddie Steward, we are looking at a rearrangement that would bring Ben Earl or Henry Pollock into the backline should Roebuck have to come off.
