    Van den Bergh v Slevin

I'm not sure how suspicious of a man Dimitri Van den Bergh is, but after seeing three seeded players in a row lose 3-0, he has a Sunday night curse to break.

He doesn't look concerned though, showing off a few dance moves on stage before this match gets under way.

Dylan Slevin caused one upset by beating fellow Irishman William O'Connor in the first round on Friday night.

Van den Bergh to throw first, game on!

Dimitri van den Bergh concludes Sunday's matches, with the Belgian facing Irish qualifier Dylan Slevin.

Van den Bergh has struggled throughout 2024 and needs a good run at Alexandra Palace to avoid dropping out of the world's top 20. He started this tournament 11th in PDC's Order of Merit.

Slevin knocked Republic of Ireland compatriot William O'Connor out of the competition at the first round and will hope to cause another upset here.

The winner of this faces Martin Callan Rydz in the third round. Rydz started Sunday's evening matches with a win over Martin Schindler.

  8. What is a nine-darter?published at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December

Darts is one of the few sports that can measure perfection; snooker has the 147 maximum break, golf has the hole-in-one, darts has the nine-dart finish.

The fewest number of darts required to finish a standard leg of 501 points is nine.

There are several ways to complete a nine-dart finish, the most common being two visits of 180 followed by a 141 checkout.

The most recent nine-darter at the PDC World Championship before Christian Kist on Wednesday was from Michael Smith in his 2023 final win over Michael van Gerwen.

There is a method of completing a nine-darter with three identical visits of 167 - treble 20, treble 19, bull - although that is usually saved for the exhibition circuit rather than in tournament play!

On what has changed this year: "It was maybe the checkouts, that was the difference in this game."
