Leonard Gates has the throw for the final leg of this fourth set and takes command of it.
Gates is down to a finish, but Nathan Aspinall's 180 gives the American a metaphorical tap on the shoulder, with Gates then missing out on 135.
Aspinall tees up double 18, with Gates doing the same on double 20.
On his second dart, The Asp takes it.
That was a battle, but Aspinall got there and is into the third round after Christmas.

One leg away from the third round, a 180 from Nathan Aspinall gets things off to a perfect start.
Leonard Gates puts some pressure on, going 140, 100, 140 to start his leg.
Gates gets the chance to finish first on 121. He needs a bull finish, but again, only finds 25.
Aspinall does not take his 143 chance, but Gates misses doubles eight and four.
On 79, Aspinall goes 19, 20 and then low on double 20, only for the last dart to bounce out.
Gates pins double two to break throw, surviving once more.

Leonard Gates starts the leg on his throw with a 180 to put early pressure on Nathan Aspinall.
Despite that, The Asp gets down to a finishing chance before Gates on 167.
A 139 sets up double 14 for Aspinall, but Gates, left needing bull for a 124 out, puts his final dart in the 25.
Aspinall misses double 14 but takes out double seven to move within a leg of the third round.

Even with his struggles to release the dart at times, Nathan Aspinall is still finding a way to score trebles and win legs.
Back-to-back two-treble visits set up double four, which Aspinall would come to, had Leonard Gates not found bull to take out 88.

Leonard Gates, averaging almost 87, also just had his best set of the night.
Aspinall almost takes the lead in the fourth set on 147, but he misses double 18 by a whisker.
The Asp comes back to it, taking it out first time.

Even with the jump in confidence, do not write off Leonard Gates just yet.
He goes 180, 139 to set up 98 to take the set to a deciding leg.
Nathan Aspinall has 170 for the set. He picks out the two treble 20s perfectly, but can only find 25 with the third dart.
Aspinall returns on 25, but misses doubles eight and four.
A 14 from Gates sets up two darts at double 20, but he misses both.
With two more darts at double four, Aspinall takes the set.

After 12 legs, Nathan Aspinall finds his first 180 of the night, much to his own relief.
Needing 47 for the leg, he misses double 16, but takes double eight for a 12-dart leg.
A huge roar, he will be very relieved by the finish.
A very decent wage, if you're at the top level.
Luke Humphries would become the first player in PDC history to reach £2m on the two-year Order of Merit system if he clinches back-to-back World Championship titles on 3 January.
Both he and Luke Littler have trousered more than £1m in prize money this year, and they will earn more through sponsorship deals, merchandise and exhibitions.

Needing 64, he goes treble eight, double 20 to cancel out Aspinall's advantage in the set.

A poor 42 does bring him to a finish, but Nathan Aspinall is hot on his heels.
Gates needs 96 and scores 56 for a double 20 shootout.

Nathan Aspinall is having the odd throw where he is needing to re set-up or adjust his positioning as he fights through the challenges he has faced in recent times.
He remains ahead of Leonard Gates, but the American gets a first at a finish.

Aspinall returns on 79. Singles on 19 and 20 set up double 20, which Aspinall takes, after a re-grip.
