Graddon feared she may be forced to retire from diving because of her injury

Plymouth diver Brooke Graddon's Olympic hopes are back on after successful treatment for a shoulder injury.

The 24-year-old 10m diver had a cortisone injection last month in a bid to cure the problem which thretened to force her to quit diving.

"It's numbed the pain that I was getting and I've been diving for two and a half weeks virtually pain-free," she told BBC Radio Devon.

Graddon says she will now focus on next month's National Cup in Southend.

"There's no pain and everything's going to plan. The physios are really happy, the coaches are really happy, so we've just got to keep our fingers crossed for the nationals in January.

"I'm not quite back on 10m yet but I'm getting there. Hopefully next week I'll be back up there," she said.

And despite the injury Graddon is hopeful that her performances will not be affected as she tries to impress the Great Britain selectors.

The British team for August's Olympics will be named in June.

"Ideally I would liked to have been training back on 10m months ago and obviously I've lost this month due to my shoulder.

"Hopefully I'll be able to to dive my best and not let this shoulder injury affect me," she said.
