Chesterfield promoted to League One after Wycombe draw

Chesterfield have been promoted to League One after third-placed Wycombe's chances of overhauling them disappeared with a 0-0 draw against Torquay.

"It's a fantastic time," chairman Barrie Hubbard, whose side moved to the B2net Stadium from Saltergate in 2010, told Sky Sports.

"The team has been great and the supporters too, the atmosphere has been out of this world."

Chesterfield will be champions if they beat second-placed Bury on Monday.

Before their potential title decider, Chesterfield travel to Oxford United on Saturday.

"It will be a very good game against Bury," added Hubbard. "The last big one we had was Rotherham who we beat 5-0, which was a surprise to me, but we want to see if we can do something similar."

Under the leadership of former Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder John Sheridan, the Spireites began 2011 with a two-point lead at the top of the table and have occupied top spot ever since.

Their form at their new home has been particularly impressive with just 15 points dropped in 21 games at the B2net Stadium.

This campaign was the team's fourth season in League Two since being relegated from the third tier in May 2007.
