Watford winger Will Buckley has finalised a £1 million switch to League One champions Brighton.

The Hornets had rejected two earlier approaches from the Seagulls for the 22-year-old, who won the club's young player of the year award in 2010/11.

After signing from Rochdale 16 months ago Buckley went on to make 43 Watford appearances.

He played 37 times in the 2010/11 campaign as one of a number of young players used by boss Malky Mackay.

The deal includes a sell-on clause which would hand Watford 15% of the profit Brighton make from any future sale.

The Hornets paid Dale an initial £200,000 for Buckley in January 2010 and then a further £39,000 after appearance clauses had been met.

The Spotland club had their own sell-on clause which will see them scoop £152,200, 20% of the £761,000 profit Watford have made.

The wideman could be one of two high-profile exits from Vicarage Road.

Top scorer Danny Graham is understood to be close to securing a switch to Premier League new boys Swansea City.
