Cardiff City have confirmed they will play Italian heavyweights Parma in a pre-season friendly.

The Serie A side will play at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, 30 July with a 1500 BST kick-off.

Parma, who boast the likes of Argentina striker Hernan Crespo, will also play Luton Town, Queen's Park Rangers and Norwich City on their mini-tour.

Cardiff will also travel to play Bournemouth at Dean Court on 23 July, with that match a 1300 BST kick-off.

The game could be the first in charge for whoever is named Dave Jones' successor as Cardiff manager.

Watford manager Malky Mackay, former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton, plus ex-West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo are the bookmakers' favourites, after Alan Shearer announced on Wednesday he had been "unsuccesful" in talks with the club.

St Johnstone's Derek McInnes and Mark Robins, who quit as Barnsley boss in May, are also believed to be on Cardiff's shortlist.

The Welsh Championship club hope to make an appointment within the next fortnight.
