Torquay United boss Martin Ling has signed Cambridge defender Brian Saah and Falkirk goalkeeper Robert Olejnik.

Saah, 24, joins the Gulls having played under Ling at both the U's and Leyton Orient.

Former Austrian Under-21 international Olejnik, 24, spent four years at Falkirk, making 102 appearances.

"I have never heard any negatives about Robert Olejnik," said Ling. "He is an under-21 international and comes here with a massive pedigree."

He added: "He's played some big games against Rangers and Celtic, and if you go to either of those grounds with Falkirk then you know how to keep goal.

Prior to joining Falkirk in 2007, Olejnik was part of the youth set up at Aston Villa., external

"Robert will have the number one on the back of his shirt," continued Ling. "But that doesn't mean the other keeper to come in won't push him all the way. I want competition for every place on the pitch."

Saah's move to Plainmoor comes despite him having a year left to run on his contract at Cambridge.

Ling said: "They (Cambridge) don't want him to go but Brian is outside the wage structure they are now working to.

"He is someone that I fully trust. He became an England C international at Cambridge and was their club captain.

"He is a great signing for me and our football club will soon see what a good player Brian Saah is - he will be a major asset to this football club."
