Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has revealed the German club want to sign Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.

Bendtner, 23, has been left out of the Gunners squad for the pre-season tour of Asia, external and Arnesen admits Hamburg are interested - but concedes it will take a "small miracle" to finalise a deal.

He told Hamburger Abendblatt: "Bendtner would be a real dream.

"There are two other clubs who have made Nicklas an offer and we are unfortunately not in that position."

Bendtner has also been linked with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund, but they have distanced themselves from a move for the Danish international.

Their chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said: "There has never been an offer from Borussia Dortmund for Nicklas Bendtner."
