Bury striker Ryan Lowe admits he considered leaving the League One new boys before committing his future to the Shakers on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old had been linked with a move even before saying on Twitter, external a "few clubs" were interested in him.

However, Lowe told BBC Radio Manchester: "It's head turning, isn't it? You do have to recognise that.

"But I love this club, that's why I came here. The fans have taken to me and I want to pay Bury back."

Lowe scored 27 league goals to help Bury secure promotion to League One last season.

However, with just one year, and the option of a further year, left on his contract his future looked uncertain, especially with Stockport County making their interest public.

After talks with the club, Lowe says he is now happy to put thoughts of a move in the past: "The fans have taken to me, they love me and everywhere I go they scream my name.

"I want to pay Bury back and if I can do that for the foreseeable future, and the long-term future, then I'm happy to do that."
