Leyton Orient sign striker David Mooney

Rooney began his career with Shamrock Rovers

Leyton Orient have signed former Reading striker David Mooney on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old hit 14 goals in 44 appearances for Colchester United last season during an extended loan spell.

He began his career in Ireland, and moved to the Madejski in 2008 after spells with Shamrock Rovers and Cork.

Mooney, who also spent loan spells with Charlton and Norwich, failed to make any league appearances for the Royals, who released him this summer.
