Hansen is yet to experience first team club football

Bradford City have brought in Liverpool reserve keeper Martin Hansen on a one-month loan.

The 21-year-old Denmark under-21 international made his debut in their 3-1 friendly defeat at Hull City.

Hansen joined Liverpool in 2006 and this will be his first loan spell away from Anfield.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: "I'm very happy - it maybe should have happened a season earlier but hopefully I can get a lot of experience."

Hansen will provide competition for Bradford's other keeper Jon McLaughlin and is hoping to be involved in their League Two opener at home to Aldershot on 9 August - his first taste of competitive action.

"Now it's real men's football - I have to go out and perform every single weekend now.

"I'm happy because in the reserves you maybe have a game every third week and it's not the same really."

Hansen has yet to see any first-team football with Liverpool since joining as a 16-year-old, but was part of the 2007 FA Youth Cup winning side.

"League Two for me is maybe the right thing to start off with - get into the game, get to know the game and get some experience," he said.

"Bradford is a big club with a big stadium and I'm just looking forward to having some games."

The club could extend Hansen's stay beyond the initial month if things go well, something the keeper would consider.

"At the moment I'm just thinking about doing well for the team and making sure they can rely on me," he said.

"If it happens that I do that well and they want to extend the loan, then hopefully that happens."
