Manager Lee Clark signs new Huddersfield Town deal

Manager Lee Clark has signed a new rolling contract at Huddersfield Town.

The 38-year-old's existing deal was set to expire at the end of the 2011-12 season, but he will now stay at the Yorkshire club on a rolling basis.

Clark told the club's wesbite: "I'm delighted. I've said all along that I enjoy my job immensely.

"When Dean [Hoyle, chairman] offered me and the rest of the staff the chance to continue what we have started here, it was a no-brainer. "

He added: "The coaching staff and I are very, very happy here. The one thing we want to do now is take the club further.

"Huddersfield Town is a fantastic club with a terrific fan base, with great plans such as the impressive work going on at Canalside [the club's new traning ground]. Together we are putting things into place.

"I knew all along that sorting out the new contracts wasn't going to be an issue and we all wanted to focus on recruitment and getting the lads as fit as possible in preparation for the new season.

"I agreed my deal weeks ago and the rest of the staff got theirs' sorted within ten days when we got down to it. That shows the quality of the relationship between us all."

Clark was chairman Dean Hoyle's first management appointment as chairman in 2008 and the former Newcastle midfielder currently boasts the fourth-best win ratio in Town history.

In his two years at the Galpharm Stadium Clark has guided Hudderisfield to two play-off campaigns and saw the team achieve a club record 27 league games unbeaten last season.

Chairman Dean Hoyle commented: "We're very happy that Lee has signed the new deal offered to him. He is the man I want as Huddersfield Town manager. We have a great relationship.

"He has done an excellent job in his two-and-a-half years at the club, as he has brought much-needed stability to the role.

"Before that we had eight managers in ten years and that gets you nowhere."
