Sean Dillon and Jon Daly agree deals with Dundee Utd

Dillon and Daly have agreed deals to keep them at the club until 2013

Dundee United striker Jon Daly and defender Sean Dillon have agreed contract extensions, securing them to the club until May 2013.

Daly joined United in January 2007 and became captain in 2009, while Dillon has played over 160 matches for the Tanadice outfit.

"Jon is an important member of the squad," said manager Peter Houston.

"And Sean is a versatile player who is able to fill any position along the back line."

Daly has become a permanent fixure in Houston's squad, netting 39 goals since his arrival from Hartlepool and Houston is certain he has a long career ahead of himself on Tayside.

"He is respected by the players and staff and he has also shown himself to be willing to play anywhere for the team," said the United boss.

"He has filled the central back position superbly on a few occasions but his strike rate this season shows that he is most important to the team as a striker.

"He provides a big strong physical presence up front - I like his approach to the job and his contribution to the team and I firmly believe we will see the best of Jon Daly over the next few seasons."

Dillon came to United from Longford Town in the League of Ireland and was Craig Levein's second major signing of the 2007 transfer window, quickly establishing himself as a first team regular.

"Sean's performances since moving to central defence have shown that he is more than capable of playing there week in week out," added Houston.

"He brings plenty of experience to our young squad, is a model professional who goes about his business in the right way and I'm delighted that he has agreed to extend his contract at the club."
