Martinez says Dicko could be in first team by the end of the 2011/12 season

Wigan have completed the signing of teenage striker Nouha Dicko from Strasbourg on a three-year contract.

Dicko, a free agent, impressed in a trial spell after the French club were forced to release players because of their financial problems.

Boss Roberto Martinez said: "At 19, he is a really exciting prospect and we're looking forward to working with him.

"He has real pace, and a real raw talent - and players like that are difficult to find in this day and age."

The forward is Martinez's third signing ahead of the new Premier League season - goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has joined from Bolton, external after impressing on loan last season, and midfielder David Jones has signed from Wolves, external.

Dicko, who played three games for Strasbourg last season in the third tier of French football, said: "I am so happy to join the club and to be given this chance.

"I need to keep working hard now and try and push for a regular place in the first-team squad."

Wigan begin their Premier League season at home to Norwich City on Saturday.

Their next two matches are also against promoted - Swansea on 20 August, followed by Queens Park Rangers a week later.
