Exeter City striker Guillem Bauza says his debut goal for the Grecians will help him settle at St James Park.

The Spaniard got the opening goal against Yeovil Town on Tuesday as his side won 2-0, external to set up a second round tie at home to Liverpool.

"It's important to score early when you are playing for a new team as it takes a bit of pressure off you," the 26-year-old told BBC Radio Devon.

"The best feeling as a striker is to score a goal."

He added: "Getting your first goal helps you and you can then gradually play better with the team and adapt to the team's game.

"Being new to a club to score your first goal on your debut is really nice."

Bauza only played 44 minutes for City on Tuesday night as manager Paul Tisdale eases him back to full fitness after a groin injury hampered his pre-season.

"The injury is gradually getting better," he said.

"We're still working on it, I'm still not 100% but I'm hoping to get it right as soon as possible."
