Defender Taye Taiwo will be out of action for one month
Nigeria will miss defender Taye Taiwo for next month's crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar because of injury.
The left-back suffered an ankle sprain while playing for Italian side AC Milan in a friendly on Sunday.
The 26-year-old picked up the injury during Berlusconi Trophy match against Juventus.
AC Milan have confirmed that Taiwo will be out of action for one month.
This means the defender will not be available for the Super Eagles when they travel to Antananarivo to play Madagascar on 4 September.
His absence is a blow for Nigeria who must win the game to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for next year's tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The Super Eagles are second in Group B of the qualifiers with seven points and they trail Guinea by three points.
Taiwo has already been criticised by his new coach, Massimiliano Allegri, who has said that he "has to learn about the way the game is played in Italy."
