Filip Kiss could make his Cardiff debut this Saturday

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay faces a selection dilemma for the trip to Portsmouth on Saturday.

The City boss watched a second-string team come through a tough Carling Cup match with Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Cardiff won 5-3 in extra-time and Mackay was impressed with his players' efforts.

"It was good to see that the guys stepped in and won and put everything into the jersey," said Mackay, who signed nine players in the summer.

"It was good to see that the other guys in the squad are as committed."

Mackay made nine changes to his team for the midweek cup game with League One Huddersfield Town.

Only Don Cowie and Craig Conway, who both scored in the dramatic comeback, retained their places in the starting line-up from the team that drew 1-1 at Burnley in the league last Saturday.

Cardiff raced into a two goal lead at the Cardiff City Stadium, only for Lee Clark's team to score three times.

Cowie levelled in added time before Conway and Cowie, again, ensured a home win.

"It was good to see them in a pressure situation," said Mackay of his squad players.

"What I was delighted about was that everyone on the pitch looked as though they were trying to work as hard as they could for Cardiff, that's important to me."

Filip Kiss could come into the Cardiff team for this Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

The 20-year-old midfielder was signed on a season-long loan deal from SK Slovan Bratislava in July, but has yet to feature for the Bluebirds after suffering with a hamstring problem.

"Filip Kiss will be available again which is great news," added Mackay.

"He's trained the last few days and he'll come down with us and be part of the squad."

Fellow summer signing Aron Gunnarsson, 22, is set for a fitness test ahead of the trip to Fratton Park to face Steve Cotterill's side.

The Iceland international picked up an ankle injury in Cardiff's 3-1 league win over Bristol City on 14 August.
