Peter Whittingham pleased with Cardiff City progress

Midfielder Peter Whittingham has said Cardiff City are improving under new manager Malky Mackay.
The Bluebirds have lost only once since Mackay succeeded Dave Jones during the summer.
They secured their eighth point of the campaign in the Championship following a 1-1, external draw at Portsmouth.
"We feel like we're improving. There would be something going wrong if we didn't feel that," said Whittingham, who has signed a new three-year deal, external.
"We feel like we're getting there. Even towards the end of the game we felt we were the stronger team.
"If anyone was going to score then it was going to be us."
Cardiif had gone ahead after 71 minutes at Fratton Park with Andrew Taylor scoring his first goal for the club.
Portsmouth had twice hit the woodwork and had two other shots cleared off the line before substitute Nwankwo Kanu equalised with ten minutes remaining.
"We're really disappointed especially with the goal being quite late," said Whittingham.
"I felt the lads did really well. The back four and Marshy [keeper David Marshall] stayed solid. There was a lot of long balls going in and we felt we coped with it until the goal
"There's always going to be a little bit of trouble when the ball is launched into your box that many times.
"It was hard for us but I felt we got it down quite a bit, we started to play some nice stuff and maybe felt we deserved the three points."
Despite summer speculation linking him with moves away from Cardiff, Whittingham has committed his future to the Bluebirds.
The former Aston Villa player signed a new three-year deal with the club during the week and is delighted to be staying in south Wales.
"It was massive for me," Whittingham said. "There was obviously a bit of speculation about what was happening but I'm really happy it's been settled now.
"It's nice to hear other teams are looking at you and putting bids in.
"But at the end of the day I always wanted to stay at Cardiff and it's a case of wanting to get to the Premiership with Cardiff."
