Defender Chris Blackburn has left Wrexham after his contract with the Blue Square Premier side was cancelled by mutual consent.

Blackburn joined Wrexham from Aldershot, external on a two-year deal in June 2010.

The 29-year-old made 43 league appearances for Wrexham last season, scoring one goal.

He was transfer listed earlier in the month after Saunders could not guarantee him a starting role in his favoured position centre-half position

The cancellation of Blackburn's Wrexham contract means he is now free to sign for another club.

Meanwhile young striker Nick Rushton has joined Welsh Premier side Newtown on loan.
