A Gary Madine brace helped Sheffield Wednesday knock 10-man MK Dons off top spot in League One.

Madine opened the scoring with a shot from inside the area after being put through on goal by Clinton Morrison.

Substitute Liam Palmer set up the second with a cross that was headed in by Madine but Angelo Balanta fired home after evading several tackles.

Palmer sealed the Owls' win after a one-two with Madine before Jabo Ibehre was sent off for a second booking.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:

Result most important thing- Megson

"Second-half was very good, the first-half they settled on the ball a lot better then we did at times.

"We defended well and I was impressed with how we kept the ball when under pressure.

"Gary Madine has really improved his work-rate over the last few weeks and he is getting his rewards for that."

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

We made too many errors - Robinson

"Good in parts, and obviously not so good in other parts. I thought for 25 minutes we really did take to the game.

"We conceded a silly, silly goal. I accept that people are going to make mistakes, but I don't accept that when teams cross the ball we leave people unmarked in the six-yard box.

"We pride ourselves in being organised and resolute, and denying people opportunities. It didn't happen. It was a collective error."
