Late goal denies Harrogate Town a point at Hyde United

A late goal denied Harrogate Town a point at Blue Square Bet North leaders Hyde United.

Harrogate led twice but a last-minute goal by Matthew Berkeley from the penalty spot gave Hyde a 3-2 win and their seventh consecutive victory.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "I think it is really disappointing.

"The first 20 minutes was as good a team performance as I've seen in Conference North in the last few years.

First half goals from Paul Brayson and Adam Nowakowski had given Town the lead on both occasions.

Weaver added: "We were passing the football at a high tempo, we were closing down high up, exactly how I want us to play football. We got it off to a tee.

"But it's disappointing they scored two goals first half against the run of play with two strikes.

"A couple of players had quiet second halves and I think the Paul Heckingbottom injury was important as well.

"It was a swing in their favour and we retreated a little bit and I don't want to play deep. That happened near the end.

"But, to be fair, the effort of the boys was there for all to see and the spirit is growing and we're getting better and better."
