MK Dons midfielder Shaun Williams has signed a new deal, keeping him at Stadium MK until 2013.

The 24-year-old joined the Dons from Irish side Sporting Fingal in March and has gone on to feature eight times for Karl Robinson's side.

He has filled in as a make-shift centre-back when required.

"I'm really pleased with the way Shaun's come on as a central defender this year," Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio, external.

"We've probably kept most of our clean sheets with him and Gary MacKenzie at centre-half."

Meanwhile, Robinson is expecting to be without midfielder Jay O'Shea for a "number of weeks".

The 23-year-old, a summer signing from Birmingham City, has not featured since damaging his ankle against Brentford at the end of August.

"He's way off unfortunately. It's not as bad as we thought, but it's not one with an overnight fix," said Robinson.
