Watford have signed winger Michael Kightly from Wolves on a month's loan.

The 25-year-old former England Under-21 international has made five appearances for the Premier League club this season after returning from long-term injury.

Kightly made only four appearances last season because of persistent knee problems after featuring just 10 times in 2010-11 also because of injury.

"I am sure this loan spell will be extremely good for him and Watford," said Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

"Michael is fit to play and has already started two of our Premier League games this season.

"But having spoken to him he feels he needs to play maybe five or six games on the bounce, which is something he hasn't been able to do in the last two years.

"We had a discussion and agreed that he should try and go out on loan where there's a better chance of playing those games and helping him get towards the levels needed for the pace of the Premier League," McCarthy told the Wolves club website., external

Kightly joined Wolves on loan from non-league Grays, external in November 2006 before making the move permanent for a nominal fee in January 2007.

He helped Wolves reach the Championship play-offs at the end of that season, before playing a leading role in McCarthy's side winning the title and promotion to the Premier League in 2008-09.
