Watford have signed Swansea and Scotland striker Craig Beattie on loan until 8 January 2012.

The 27-year-old, an £800,000 capture from West Brom two years ago, external, has yet to feature this season after suffering an ankle injury.

The seven-time capped Scot told the Swansea website, external: "I've met the coaches at Watford and it seems a nice club.

"The ankle injury I picked up recently set me back a bit, but now I'm feeling fit and raring to go."

Beattie continued: "I just need some game time, some action, and I'm looking forward to the challenge at Watford.

"I want to play first team football again and I will be doing my best to help the Hornets as much as I can during the loan spell.''

Beattie scored four goals in 23 appearances last season, as the Swans won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

He has totalled seven goals in 46 games since arriving in Wales from the Hawthorns, where he hit the net four times in 31 league matches.
