Dorchester Town manager Ashley Vickers has left the club by mutual consent.

Coach Phil Simkin and player Mark Jermyn will take charge of the side for Saturday's match against Tonbridge.

"The board of directors would like to thank Ashley for the work he has done in the last two years," said a Dorchester club statement.

"The board persuaded Ashley to take on the role at a difficult time, when he was not necessarily looking for a role in football management."

Dorchester are currently 17th in the Blue Square Bet South table and have lost their last three games.

The statement, issued by secretary David Martin, went on to say that recent results were having a financial effect on the club.

"The board appreciate his efforts working within a tight budget," added the statement.

"However, in a results business, the run of poor results was having an impact on all sources of income."
