Rotherham United have signed Sam Wood on loan from League One side Brentford until 9 January.

The 25-year-old midfielder is reunited with Andy Scott, who signed the player when he was Brentford manager in 2008.

Scott brought Wood to Griffin Park from non-league side Bromley and switched him from a left-back to left midfield.

Wood has made 126 appearances in total for the Bees, but just eight this season and only five of those have been in the league.

Brentford's former player of the year is expected to go straight into the team as cover for Gareth Evans.

Evans has been ruled out of action until January at the earliest because of an ankle injury picked up against Bradford City.

Another player to leave Brentford is defender Blair Adams, who returns to Sunderland early from his loan spell., external
