Jonathon Thorpe earns new Cambridge United deal

Thorpe's last U's appearance was on 6 December at Ebbsfleet

Cambridge United have handed a two-and-a-half-year professional contract to defender Jonathon Thorpe.

The 18-year-old academy product has made 12 first-team appearances, seven coming this season.

"JT is an exciting prospect and we felt it was the right time to sign him on a professional contract," boss Jez George told the club website.

"We believe that Jonathon has the attributes and potential to become a very good player."
