English and Old Firm keen on Andrew Driver, says agent

Driver was omitted from the Hearts squad at the weekend

Several Championship clubs and the Old Firm have taken notice of winger Andrew Driver's decision to demand a transfer from Hearts.

But the player's agent, Scott Fisher, says the 24-year-old's preference is to move to English football rather than Celtic or Rangers.

It is thought that Hearts, who are continuing a media blackout, are willing to allow Driver a January exit.

Fisher said that Driver was fed up being overlooked by boss Paulo Sergio.

Driver was excluded from the squad ahead of Saturday's 4-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic after a conversation with the Tynecastle manager.

"I don't want anybody who is not 100% with Hearts," explained Sergio.

But Fisher told BBC Scotland: "Andrew Driver has never said he won't play for the club.

"He always wanted to play, always made himself available for selection and has been ready to play for some time."

Driver, who made his Hearts debut in 2006, has 18 months of his contract to run.

"Andrew has been a loyal servant to Hearts," added Fisher.

"I saw some things that the manager said about his loyalty and commitment.

"Nobody questioned these things when the club turned down two great offers for the player, or when the player was turning up at his work every single day and making himself available for selection on Saturdays and not being paid.

"If somebody doesn't like you or want you to play, you find a solution.

"A written transfer request has been put to Hearts. We would be looking to leave in January on a loan or a permanent deal.

"If that doesn't happen, he remains an employee of the club and will give 100% for Hearts as he always has done."
