The Scottish Football Association's fast-track tribunal has upheld the two-match suspension given to Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings.
Motherwell had contested the SFA's compliance officer's decision to serve Jennings with a ban for an altercation with St Mirren's Jim Goodwin.
But the Association's judicial panel has rejected the Steelmen's appeal.
On Tuesday, Buddies captain Goodwin accepted his two-match ban for punching Jennings in the stomach.
The incident took place early in the 1-1 draw at Fir Park on Saturday as Jennings angered opponents with a wild hack at Kenny McLean near the halfway line.
Goodwin reacted by barging into the back of Jennings and the Motherwell man appeared to raise a hand to his assailant's face before he was punched.
Although he booked both players at the time, referee Calum Murray did not see the raised hands, and could have been unsighted.
However, Goodwin has already accepted his suspension, external after cameras highlighted his actions.
