Chesterfield are still looking for a first league win since September after being held to a draw by Oldham.

Jordan Bowery scored a 15-yard volley to give League One's bottom side the lead from Alex Mendy's cross.

Oldham levelled at the end of the first half when Matt Smith headed in a Filipe Morais cross.

Both sides had chances to win the game in injury-time, as Athletic's Chris Taylor and Spireites' Scott Boden had chances saved.

Chesterfield can play better - Wright

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"I think they can play better. But you have to give the players the credit - they gave it their all.

"The position we're in, we need to win games but a point is better then nothing.

"We came in at half-time a bit deflated but in the second half we kept going and probably a draw was a fair result "

Oldham were the better team - Simpson

Oldham Athletic forward Robbie Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I thought we were worthy of three points as I thought we were the better team.

"We're happy with our performance and I thought the lads worked really hard today, but roll on Friday.

"Once you get on the field you play to win, but I think as soon as the final whistle went everyone was like 'we've got Liverpool next'."
