Kemy Agustien has told Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers that he does not want to fill in at right-back for their New Year's Eve clash with Tottenham.

The Dutch midfielder was switched to right-back when Angel Rangel was forced out of their 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers due to an ankle injury.

But Agustien would be cautious facing Tottenham's in-form Wales left-winger Gareth Bale at The Liberty Stadium.

"I don't like it at all," Agustien said about playing at right-back.

And asked if he would play right-back against Spurs, the 25-year-old replied: "Hopefully not."

The one-time Netherlands Under-21 international was impressing in Swansea's midfield in their Premier League clash with QPR on Tuesday but was moved to right-back when Rangel was forced off when the Swans were leading 1-0.

Defender Garry Monk was among the substitutions but Rodgers overlooked his club captain and replaced Rangel with striker Luke Moore, so Agustien dropped in as a makeshift defender.

But within a minute of the switch, Jamie Mackie equalised for the visitors as the QPR striker capitalised on a lapse in the Swansea defence after a long kick up field by Rangers keeper Paddy Kenny.

And Agustien revealed: "I was frustrated when the manager told me to play right-back because I have never played there before.

"I don't like the position at all. I thought I was playing well in the midfield.

"He spoke about why he made the decision afterwards and I totally respected it. I could understand his decision after the game but not in the game.

"But it is not about me, it is about the rest of the team. If the manager asks me to do it, I'll do the job for him."

Angel returned from four weeks out with an ankle problem in their but suffered a recurrence against QPR and joins fellow full-back Neil Taylor (knee) and the versatile Alan Tate (broken leg) on Swansea's injury list.

Rodgers hopes Wales international left-back Taylor returns against Spurs so Jazz Richards, who played left-back against QPR, can move to right-back if Rangel fails a late fitness test.

"We have loads of players that can play right-back and left-back as we have still got Jazz Richards and Fede Bessone so they can fill in," Agustien added.

Rodgers's small squad will be tested against Spurs as on-loan England Under-21 international centre-back Steven Caulker is not permitted to play against his parent club as part of their loan agreement.

Centre-back Monk is in line to face a Spurs side that have lost just once in 15 Premier League games as Swansea hope to halt their poor run of one win in eight games.
