Motherwell sign Henrik Ojamaa until end of season

Motherwell have completed the signing of Henrik Ojamaa after the Estonian forward accepted their offer of a contract until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old, who left Finnish club Rovaniemen Palloseura (RoPS) at the end of the Veikkausliiga season, had two successful trial spells at Fir Park.

Ojamaa told Well's website that he had a couple of other options.

"But as soon as I knew Motherwell was interested then it was always going to be my number one choice," he said.

"I am now going to do my best to challenge for a place in the first team and I'll see where it goes from there.

"I have only been here a short time, but I really like the place, the manager is great and it's a good group of players."

The Estonia Under-21 international aims to prove himself worthy of a longer contract.

"If something could materialise in the next few months, or at the end of the season, that would be great," said Ojamaa.

"But first I need to prove myself and I am hoping to do that."

Tallinn-born Ojamaa came through the ranks at local club Flora before joining the youth set-up at Derby County, winning a professional contract with the English club in 2009.

However, he left Pride Park after a year, during which time he had a loan spell with Conference outfit Stafford Rangers.

Ojamaa joined German second-tier club Alemannia Aachen but was farmed out to Dutch outft Fortuna Sittard before moving on to RoPS.

With his latest club suffering relegation from the Finnish top-flight, the forward was again on the lookout for a new employer and will now attempt to prove himself in the Scottish Premier League.

First, though, he will be pushing for a place in the squad to face Queen's Park in the Scottish Cup fourth round on Saturday.
