Simon Weaver optimistic after Harrogate Town draw

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver felt his side had got back on the right track after a goalless draw against Histon in Blue Square Bet North.

The best chances fell to Harrogate near the end of the game when substitute Paul Brayson went close three times.

Weaver told BBC Radio York: "We looked a good Conference North team today.

"So if that is the starting point with a clean sheet against a good team then so be it and I think we will grow and get stronger."

Weaver made six changes to the side that lost 4-0 at Guiseley on Boxing Day and gave debuts to three players.

Midfielders Robbie Youhill and Paul Bolland and striker Paul Beesley were all given their first starts for the club.

Weaver said: "To say they've come from, Paul Beesley two leagues below, Robbie three leagues below, they both acquitted themselves very well.

"Beesley was a real handful and I thought Robbie Youhill played like an old fashioned winger.

"His work ethic was superb. I can't fault any of the displays from individuals today or collectively.

"I just came out of the changing room there and I told the lads how proud I was of their efforts today.

"They did everything but claim the three points.

"Histon are a tricky team. They're full time, they're fit, and got young quick lads.

"We negated that threat well. We competed all over the park which made a difference."
